No Added Flavorings?
Eléctrico’s ‘Distilled With’ Mezcal are not simply added flavorings. We don’t add anything after the distillation process is completed. The designation ‘Distilled With’ is strictly regulated, and the additional flavor has to come from ingredients added during the distillation process.
Our Maestro Cirino is something of an alchemist. He and his horse, Marfil, ride the hills around San Baltazar Guelavila in search of the best wild agave. He often returns with herbs, fruits, barks, and flowers that might offer flavor partnerships for Eléctrico Mezcal.
Some work better than others. Some of the best have difficulty getting past the Food and Drink Administration in the USA because they don’t yet recognize black oak or tepehuaje bark as food. Unfortunately, one of his finest creations would only be legal in a few states and only if the secret ingredient had been grown there!
The key is subtlety, balance, and harmony. Cirino tests his recipes repeatedly to find the perfect unions. The extra ingredient must not smother the uniquely delicious flavor profile of the Eléctrico Mezcal itself. And that vital Eléctrico signature must only be married with harmonic flavor notes that play upon the palate like distant memories.
The first of Eléctrico’s Distilled With releases is Lemongrass. We grow lemongrass in one secluded spot on small parcels of land around the hills of San Baltazar Guelavila. The marriage of this with the second distillation of Electríco Espadín Joven is sublime, with a murmur of citrus and spice harmonizing with the herbal sweetness of the agave. It is an exquisite sip and the perfect base for sophisticated cocktails.
There will be many more new flavor profiles to collect from Eléctrico; though we produce in small batches, they are as exclusive as they are exquisite. Blink, and you might miss them. So, register with us for updates on Tepehuaje, Mandarin, Black Oak, Flor de Cacao, and more.
