Eléctrico’s Orange Day solidarity with the women of mezcal

Eléctrico’s standard bearer, Isabel, has been flying the flag for us again. She and our new President, Brenda, recently joined with their fellow women of mezcal to promote women's rights across Oaxaca.

Dia Naranja, Orange Day, is a government-sponsored event to raise the issue of violence against women and the Oaxaca branch of Mujeres del Mezcal Y Maguey de Mexico (the Women of Mezcal and Maguey of Mexico), of which Isabel is Vice President, gathered to demand respect for the many thousands of women who help create mezcal. Isabel, the chapter president, Dena Chagoya, and their colleagues are campaigning for full recognition from the Mexican government to help ensure women working in the mezcal industry are treated equally and without intimidation.

We’re extremely proud of Isabel, Brenda, Eugenia, Jackie, Keila, Brianna, Lauren, Marfil, and, of course, our founder Kathleen for speaking out for the women of mezcal and for standing up against domestic, sexual, and other violence against women and girls. Thank you for your essential role in creating the finest mezcal you will ever taste: Eléctrico Mezcal.
