Don’t Gild the Lily

Does Eléctrico Mezcal make great cocktails? Yes. Its slightly smoky character offers something tequila and other white spirits cannot.

Even with our 'Distilled With ' series (currently Lemongrass), we wouldn’t augment our super-premium Tobalá and Jabalí with distilled botanicals. They already have deeply complex flavor profiles, and it would be sacrilegious to diminish them with syrups, sodas, paper umbrellas, and sparklers.

If you are going to make a cocktail with fine Eléctrico Mezcal, we suggest pairing it with the fruits of Oaxaca. There are plenty to choose from. The Sierra Sur area near Eléctrico’s home in the Vallee Centrale grows oranges, lemons, limes, papaya, bananas, and mango. Nearer to the coast, there is tamarind, coconut, peach, pineapple, and melon.

But if you must, please go gently. Already, US mezcalerias are trending away from cocktails and towards slow-sipping and savoring, which we at Eléctrico Mezcal believe is the best way to enjoy the fruits of our labors.
